Rhett Akins has topped the Billboard charts as both a recording artist and songwriter, penning songs for artists including Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, and Blake Shelton. A member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, he has been named Songwriter of the Year by both BMI and ACM (as well as Songwriter of the Decade by the latter). He has also received the CMA Triple Play Award a total of eight times.
