The War And Treaty added to lineup of performers; Program moved to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s CMA Theater to accommodate more seating.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee, Jan. 19, 2023 – Due to high demand, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum has released more tickets for its free performance and conversation on Wednesday, Jan. 25, celebrating the launch of its online exhibition Night Train to Nashville: Music City Rhythm & Blues, 1945-1970. The program, presented in partnership with the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM), has been moved the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s CMA Theater to accommodate additional seating.

Additionally, husband-and-wife duo The War And Treaty has been added to the lineup of performers, which includes key members of the Nashville’s historic soul music scene Levert Allison (of the Fairfield Four), Jimmy Church, Peggy Gaines Walker, Frank Howard and Charles “Wigg” Walker. Tickets are available to reserve here.

During the program, some of the musicians will also share their memories of the city’s vibrant R&B community, which included pioneering television shows (Night Train, The!!!!Beat), influential radio stations (WLAC, WSOK, WVOL), and venerated Black music venues (New Era Club, Club Del Morocco, Club Baron). The museum’s will join the discussion.

The Night Train to Nashville online exhibit was adapted from the museum’s 2004-2005 physical exhibition of the same name. The online exhibit, made possible by a major grant awarded from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), examines the impact of the R&B music that emerged from a city typically identified with country music and looks at the interplay between the two musical genres. More information on the exhibit can be found here.
