Songwriter Session: Carl Jackson
Songwriter and musician Carl Jackson’s songs have been recorded by numerous country and bluegrass artists throughout his forty-plus-year career. He wrote Garth Brooks’s “Against the Grain” and “Fit for a King”; Glen Campbell’s “(Love Always) Letter to Home” and “Arkansas Farmboy”; Diamond Rio’s “Close to the Edge”; Pam Tillis’s “Put Yourself in My Place”; and Rhonda Vincent’s “I’m Not Over You.” Jackson earned the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Song of the Year award in 1990 for “Little Mountain Church House,” which was recorded by Ricky Skaggs and t he Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Additionally, he wrote and recorded “Lonesome Dove,” also recorded by Tim Hensley, Lonesome Standard Time, Ricky Skaggs, and Trisha Yearwood. Ford Theater. Included with Museum admission.
