For more than 50 years, Hot Tuna’s Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady have brought a wealth of deep, perceptive emotions to their music, a theme that extends to their time at the heart of iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members Jefferson Airplane. Over the past five decades, they have released more than two dozen records as a band and many more solo projects. Together, they are well-seasoned musicians, with Casady’s creativity showing up in his continually evolving bass solos and Kaukonen still at the apex of his skills at 81, capable of captivating with his husky singing voice and proficient blues guitar licks. In 2022, Jefferson Airplane were given their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the ceremony for which was attended by the band’s sole surviving members: Casady, Kaukonen and Grace Slick.
