A native of Bristol, England, Roger Cook established his songwriting career in the 1960s and ’70s by penning the pop classics “You’ve Got Your Troubles,” “Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again,” “Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress),” and “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (in Perfect Harmony).”

He arrived in Nashville in 1975 and wrote country songs including the #1s Crystal Gayle’s “Talking in Your Sleep,” Don Williams’s “I Believe in You” and “Love Is on a Roll,” and George Strait’s “I Just Want to Dance with You.” Cook also achieved success as a recording artist, session vocalist, and song publisher. He is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and was honored as part of the Museum’s Poets and Prophets interview series in 2013.
