Songwriter Session: Mike Reid
Following an All-Pro football career with the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1970s, songwriter Mike Reid became a force in country music. He wrote a string of #1 hits for Ronnie Milsap, including “Lost in the Fifties Tonight (In the Still of the Night),” “She Keeps the Home Fires Burning,” and the Grammy-winning “Stranger in My House.” Reid’s other #1 songs include “Everywhere” (Tim McGraw), “Forever’s as Far as I’ll Go” (Alabama), “In This Life” (Collin Raye), “To Be Loved by You” (Wynonna Judd), and “Walk on Faith,” which he recorded himself. He also co-wrote the Bonnie Raitt hit “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” as well as songs recorded by the Judds, Willie Nelson, the Oak Ridge Boys, Tanya Tucker, Conway Twitty, and Don Williams. In 2025, Reid released Time & Life, a collaborative album with fellow Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Joe Henry. Ford Theater. Included with Museum admission. Program ticket required.
