Singer-songwriter Larry Cordle wrote “Highway 40 Blues”—a #1 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for Ricky Skaggs—and “Murder on Music Row,” first recorded by Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time and later by Alan Jackson and George Strait, who received the Country Music Association’s Vocal Event of the Year award for their version of the song. Cordle’s songs have also been recorded by Garth Brooks, Diamond Rio, Alison Krauss, Loretta Lynn, Kathy Mattea, and Trisha Yearwood. Ford Theater. Included with Museum admission.
