“Slick” Joe Fick is one of Nashville’s most in-demand bassists and is widely known among fellow musicians for his virtuosic slap technique and acrobatic showmanship. He has performed or recorded with early rock pioneers Sonny Burgess, James Burton, Cordell Jackson, and Wanda Jackson, as well as with Country Music Hall of Fame vocal group the Jordanaires. Fick portrayed Elvis Presley’s bassist, Bill Black, in the 2005 film Walk the Line and played upright bass on the soundtrack to the 2022 film Elvis. In 2009, he moved to Nashville and became a full-time member of the Don Kelley Band, performing five nights a week at Robert’s Western World. Fick stepped into the role of band leader in 2020, fronting Kelley’s Heroes, a continuation of the Don Kelley Band. Ford Theater. Included with Museum admission. Program ticket required. Free to Museum members.
