Musician Spotlight: Chuck Wagon Gang
For ninety years, the Chuck Wagon Gang has performed everywhere from the Grand Ole Opry to Carnegie Hall and with acclaimed acts including Country Music Hall of Fame members Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Marty Stuart. In their time as Columbia recording artists (1936–1975), the classic country and gospel group sold more than forty million records. Now led by Shaye Smith, granddaughter of original member Anna “Effie” Carter, the Chuck Wagon Gang continues its legacy with members Josh Garner, Melissa Kemper, Roger Newman, and Nick Poe.
