Kalup Linzy: Chronicles. Interludes. Testaments. - Opening Reception

“Kalup Linzy: Chronicles. Interludes. Testaments.,” works by the critically acclaimed video and performance artist, opens Thursday, March 19, with a reception, free and open to the public.
The show features two of Linzy’s films, “The Real Housewives in Tulsa,” featuring James Franco, and an installment of the long-running series “Conversations Wit De Churen,” as well as wall-based works—paintings, gouache, and collage. This exhibit marks the worldwide gallery premiere of Linzy’s sculptural work—four small sculptures, and never-before-shown Polaroids spanning the artist’s career.
Linzy received his MFA from the University of South Florida in 2003. He also attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Linzy has been the recipient of numerous awards including a grant from the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, a Creative Capital Foundation grant, a Jerome Foundation Fellowship, an Art Matters Grant, The Headlands Center for the Arts Alumni Awards Residency, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Film and Video, and a BAU Institute Travel Grant. In summer 2010, Linzy appeared on the long-running ABC soap opera “General Hospital” alongside James Franco in a storyline that incorporated performance art. In 2021, he founded the Queen Rose Art House in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he is a Tulsa Artist Fellowship Alumni-in-Residence.
