Ten years after their debut album collaboration, Vince Gill and Paul Franklin have again joined forces to pay tribute to a giant in country music with their new album, Sweet Memories: The Music of Ray Price & The Cherokee Cowboys. The eleven-track collection finds Gill—winner of twenty-two Grammys and a Country Music Hall of Fame member—and Franklin, who is among the world’s premier steel guitarists, digging deep into the repertoire of Price and his storied band, which counted Willie Nelson, Roger Miller, and Johnny Paycheck among its ranks. Sweet Memories is the follow-up to Gill and Franklin’s acclaimed 2013 album, Bakersfield, which tackled the songs of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. The Museum’s Dave Paulson will lead a conversation with Gill and Franklin about discovering the songs for Sweet Memories, the album’s top-tier players, and Price’s enduring legacy. Ford Theater. Included with Museum admission. Program ticket required. Free to Museum members.
