Learn about the guitar from various perspectives in this afternoon-long experience: hear it played, learn its history, and see it represented in visual art across the past two centuries. Presented in partnership with the Frist Art Museum in support of its exhibition Storied Strings: The Guitar in American Art, this experience will include a forty-five-minute performance by an accomplished guitarist, a guided tour of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum focusing on some of the most significant guitars on display, and a guided tour of Storied Strings at the Frist Art Museum. Experience begins at the Ford Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. $45. $30 for Frist Art Museum members. Complimentary parking at the Frist included with program ticket. Steve Wariner is a multi-faceted artist, musician, and songwriter. He has charted fourteen #1 hits and more than thirty Top Ten singles and has earned four Grammy awards. As a songwriter, he has written hits for Clint Black (“Nothin’ But the Taillights”), Garth Brooks (“Longneck Bottle”), and Keith Urban (“Where the Blacktop Ends”). Country Music Hall of Fame member Chet Atkins dubbed Wariner a “certified guitar player” (C.G.P.), recognizing his outstanding musicianship and their close relationship. Wariner is one of only five C.G.P.s, as well as a member of the Grand Ole Opry, the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, and the Musicians Hall of Fame.
