Join us to write a song as a group in this introductory workshop. Participants will hear a brief performance on traditional West African lutes by performance troupe AfricaNashville leaders Sekouna Conte and Ibrahima Dioubate, multi-instrumentalists and performers of West African music originally from Guinea. Music professional Adam Ollendorff—who has toured as a member of Kacey Musgraves’s band and has written songs recorded by Will Hoge and Keb’ Mo’—will teach the fundamentals of songwriting, including form, theme, and rhyme scheme. Then, participants will share ideas and write an original song accompanied by AfricaNashville. Recommended for ages 7 and up, but all are welcome. Taylor Swift Education Center. Limited seating. Included with Museum admission. Free to Museum members.
