Create a velvet painting inspired by the Velvet Elvis craze of the 1970s using black velvet, pastels, and black light paint. Velvet paintings, which originated in the Kashmir region of India and were popularized in Mexico, often featured animals, landscapes, or musicians, and velvet paintings of Elvis Presley are still the most well-known version of this art form. Presented in partnership with the 52nd Annual Spring Tennessee Craft Fair, celebrating Tennessee’s fine craft tradition by connecting the public with emerging and experienced makers using resources that celebrates Tennessee’s handmade legacy. Takes place at Centennial Park, 2500 West End Ave., Nashville, TN, 37203. All ages. Free.
