This Gracious Light: Meditations on Nature in the South Presented by Tinney Contemporary Gallery

July 03, 2015 - September 27, 2015

Anna Jaap has always found in nature a place of welcome, grace, and mystery. As a child, she named trees and told them her secrets.  Here, in selected works, Jaap shared a beloved Southern landscape—both shadowed and bright—inviting the viewer into a lush world, rich with history, where anything is possible.

Anna Jaap began her professional art career twenty-five years ago as a printmaker before shifting her focus to painting and drawing. Her current work combines these disciplines by creating mixed-media artwork that incorporates scientific texts, historical decorative arts, literature, and her personal botanical photography.

Jaap’s art is collected internationally and has been exhibited in museums and galleries across America. Her clients include Avon, the Agricultural Bank of China in New York, BentleyForbes in Chicago, Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles, Ralph Lauren Home in Chicago, the National Aquarium in Washington, and Tiffany & Co. in New York.

Born in 1966 in Arlington, Texas, Jaap received a bachelor of fine arts degree in 1987 from Lipscomb University in Nashville. She resides in Nashville.
