Out of School Days

Beat the boredom on days off school! Explore art and music during Out of School Days at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum. Come join our workshop series offered on federal holidays when students are out of school. On Out of School Days, youth ages 11-18 can learn new skills, make new friends, tour the galleries, and enjoy interactive fun.

January 21, 2019 | Martin Luther King Day | 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. | Zine Zone

Find your voice by creating a zine! Zines are miniature art magazines used to convey a message, tell a story, or for self-expression. Explore Nashville musicians who used their art to make a difference during the Civil Rights movement, and take inspiration from the visual artists featured in the exhibit Outlaws and Armadillos: Country’s Roaring ‘70s, many of whom played large roles in the underground comic scene of the 1970s. Learn techniques to develop and bind your own zine. Leave with one original zine with a creatively bound cover and multiple copies to distribute. What story will you tell?
