Songwriter Session: Pat Alger and Tony Arata

Pat Alger wrote the Garth Brooks hits “That Summer,” “The Thunder Rolls,” “Unanswered Prayers,” and “What She’s Doing Now.” He also penned “Like We Never Had a Broken Heart” (Trisha Yearwood), “Small Town Saturday Night” (Hal Ketchum), and songs for Mickey Gilley, Dolly Parton, Brenda Lee, and the Everly Brothers.
Tony Arata wrote Brooks’s songs “The Change,” “The Dance,” and “Why I Ain’t Running.” Arata also wrote “Dreaming with My Eyes Open” (Clay Walker), “Here I Am” (Patty Loveless), “I’m Holding My Own” (Lee Roy Parnell), and songs recorded by Emmylou Harris, Reba McEntire, Tanya Tucker, and Trisha Yearwood.
Presented in celebration of The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour’s Nashville show at Nissan Stadium on Saturday, July 31 at 7:00 p.m.
