Joe Newberry is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and singer. His song “Singing as We Rise,” recorded by the Gibson Brothers featuring Country Music Hall of Fame member Ricky Skaggs, won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year award in 2012. In 2013, Newberry’s song “They Called It Music” was named IBMA Song of the Year. He has been a guest on A Prairie Home Companion and was a featured singer on the Transatlantic Sessions tour of the United Kingdom in 2016. Presented as part of the annual museum celebration Bluegrass and Beyond, supported by Rick and Kit Crump in honor of George A. and Marjorie S. Crump. Ford Theater. Included with museum admission. Free to museum members. Program ticket required.
