Online Family Program: One Sheet Songwriting Journal

Many songwriters keep a notebook on hand to jot down ideas. Join museum educator and visual artist Britt McDermott to learn about the influential songwriting duo Boudleaux and Felice Bryant—responsible for penning “Rocky Top,” “Bye Bye Love,” and many other classics—and view pages from their songwriting ledgers. Then learn how to make your own pocket-sized journal using only one sheet of paper. What new ideas will fill your book? Presented in support of the exhibit We Could: The Songwriting Artistry of Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, on view until September 2, 2021.

Recommended for ages seven and up, but all families and groups with children are welcome. A guardian or adult is required to be present for children under thirteen.      


Takes place via Zoom. Space is limited. Registration required.Free.    


Materials needed:    

  • 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper   
  • Scissors    




By signing up for this program, you are confirming that a guardian or adult will be present with youth under age thirteen. An educator will send a Zoom invitation to you by 9:30 a.m. the morning of the program. Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. the day before the program, and accommodations are guaranteed for museum members. While space is limited, a minimum number of participants is required for this program to take place. While the instructor will have audio and video on during the program, it is optional for participants to turn their cameras and/or audio on during the live program. We will not record video or audio of participants for use after the program. This program is designed for youth 18 and under. Please know adults without children present are not permitted.
