Family Program: Invent an Instrument

Jun 15, 2019

1 PM – 1:45 PM

Country musicians sometimes play a role in creating their instruments. Players of the past, and some contemporary musicians, have built their own instruments using household items or materials found in nature. Take inspiration from instruments in the galleries, such as a nineteenth-century banjo made of hand-split white oak and groundhog hide, or a repurposed washboard used by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Then use recycled household materials and your imagination to create an instrument of your own. Ages four and up. Taylor Swift Education Center. Included with museum admission. Free to museum members.
