Norbert Putnam was part of the original, Alabama-based Muscle Shoals rhythm section before moving to Nashville, where he became a first-call session bassist, producer, studio owner, and music publisher.Putnam brought R&B style and feel to the country, folk, pop, and rock artists who recorded with him in Nashville. He played on over 9,000 tracks with the likes of Joan Baez, Jimmy Buffet, the Monkees, Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, and Linda Ronstadt. Putnam’s newly released memoir, Music Lessons, Vol. 1, will be available in the Museum Store. Presented in support of Dylan, Cash, and the Nashville Cats: A New Music City.
