PBS’s Southbound is an eleven-part documentary series that celebrates Southern roots music across the United States. Hosted by Tennessee folk singer Hamper McBee, this episode highlights the Mexican conjunto style of music, which originated in southern Texas and is often defined by use of the button accordion. The documentary includes performances and commentary by musicians Rumel Fuentes, Flaco Jiménez, and Santiago Jiménez Jr., in addition to footage of bands recording in a San Antonio studio with conjunto pioneer Salome Gutierrez. 28 minutes.
