Frye Gaillard has written more than twenty books on Southern culture, all of them explorations of justice, decency, spirituality, and humanity. His Watermelon Wine was among the first books to seriously and deftly explore country musicians including Guy Clark, George Hamilton IV, and Waylon Jennings, and he has written colorfully and perceptively about figures including Rev. Will D. Campbell, Johnny Cash, and Martin Luther King Jr. His latest book is a deeply personal history titled A Hard Rain: America in the 1960s, Our Decade of Hope, Possibility, and Innocence Lost. In this program, he will read from A Hard Rain and share his extensive experiences. Taylor Swift Education Center. Included with museum admission. Free to museum members. Limited seating.
