Family Programs

From banjo classes to puppet shows, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum offers a wide range of fun and interactive programs for the whole family. Most programs take place in the Taylor Swift Education Center found on the third floor of the Museum. See the calendar for a schedule of upcoming programs, activity information, and admission details.

CREATIVE ZONE

Drop in every Sunday for art-making fun that is connected to the Museum’s artifacts and exhibitions. During the summer, Creative Zone is open daily Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. ​

HATCH SHOW PRINT

Learn about letterpress from the staff of one of America’s oldest print shops, Hatch Show Print. Offered on the first Sunday of every month.​

WORKSHOPS

​Dig into the story of country music in hands-on art and music-making workshops. Teacher-led programs are offered every Saturday. During the summer, workshops are also offered on Fridays. Programs include:

Instrument workshops, which offer instruction on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, ukulele, and voice. Bring your own instrument or borrow one of ours.

Art programs, such as poster making, costume and instrument design, photography, and more. All supplies are provided and participants can take their creations home or leave them for display on our Community Creations board.

​Songwriting 101, a group songwriting experience led by professional songwriters.

Dancing lessons, including square dancing, clogging, and line dancing lessons, which teach easy steps for any occasion. ​

​STRING CITY: NASHVILLE’S TRADITION OF MUSIC AND PUPPETRY

Learn about Nashville’s emergence as Music City in a story told by marionettes, shadow puppets, and more. Over thirty country artists appear in puppet form. Presented during the summer and the weekend following Thanksgiving. String City was created by Wishing Chair Productions, the resident puppet theater company at the Nashville Public Library.​

​PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

Song and Story Time is offered on the third Sunday of every month. Designed for learners ages three to five, Song and Story Time explores a different theme each month with a book, song, gallery exploration, and a hands-on art activity.
