Stuart Duncan is a master fiddler whose skill and imagination have made him one of the most in-demand musicians in America. Matt Glaser, longtime chair of the string department at the Berklee School of Music, has called Duncan “one of the finest, most fully realized violin players in any idiom.”

A sampling of the artists with whom he has recorded—Elvis Costello, Béla Fleck, Mark Knopfler, Diana Krall, Yo Yo Ma, Panic at the Disco, Dolly Parton, Robert Plant, George Strait, Barbra Streisand, James Taylor, Shania Twain—underscores the breadth of his talent. A member of the Nashville Bluegrass Band since 1985, Duncan has performed across North America, Europe, and Asia. This interview was illustrated with vintage photos, film footage, and recordings, and Duncan briefly performed. After the program, Duncan signed copies of a limited edition Hatch Show Print poster.
