Award-winning bassist Michael Rhodes started his musical career in his hometown, Monroe, Louisiana, and played professionally throughout his teens in both Austin, Texas, and Memphis, Tennessee. In 1977 he moved to Nashville, where he worked in the house band at Tree Publishing Company, cutting demos for Tree’s hit songwriters, before achieving first call status as one of Nashville's finest bass players.
Rhodes has played with an impressive variety of artists during his career. His bass has graced hits in both country and pop, from Dolly Parton and Randy Travis to Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys and Steve Winwood. The program included photos and video and audio samples of Rhodes’s work. After the program, Rhodes signed copies of a limited edition Hatch Show Print commemorating the day.
