Vince Gill spent years as an in-demand sideman and session player before scoring his first major hit as a solo act with “When I Call Your Name” (1990). His tenor voice, ace songwriting skills, and instrumental virtuosity earned him a roomful of Grammy, CMA, and other industry awards. Quick-witted and easy-going, Gill hosted the CMA Awards from 1992 to 2003.
