Using the Allman Brothers Band as a blueprint, Nashville session musician Charlie Daniels—who had played on several Bob Dylan albums—formed his own group in 1971. The Charlie Daniels Band clicked with concert favorites such as “Long Haired Country Boy” and the 1979 crossover hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
