Alan Jackson’s 1989 debut album, Here in the Real World, revealed him as a staunch advocate of tradition-based country on songs such as the hit single “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow.” Drawing from personal experience, he continued to write and sing songs about family and small-town life that evoked universal truths and led to comparisons with Hank Williams and Merle Haggard.
