Merle Haggard and the Strangers perform over a dozen hit songs in front of an enthusiastic crowd on the legendary public television show Austin City Limits. Songs include "Big City," "Sing Me Back Home," and "Okie from Muskogee." The band features Roy Nichols on Telecaster guitar and Norm Hamlet on pedal steel, two musicians whose playing helped define the Bakersfield Sound. Leona Williams takes the lead vocal on "I'm Almost Ready." Excerpts of an interview with Haggard are interspersed throughout. 60 minutes.
