Performance: CMT’s Next Women of Country

Friday, June 09, 2017 - 12:30pm

WITH BRANDY CLARK, JILLIAN JACQUELINE, CARLY PEARCE, MAGGIE ROSE, and LUCIE SILVAS

Cable channel CMT has been highlighting new female artists in its Next Women of Country campaign. CMT executive Leslie Fram will host this showcase and discussion with artists involved in the program. After scoring hits as a songwriter and winning a CMA award for Song of the Year (“Follow Your Arrow” recorded by Kacey Musgraves), Brandy Clark released her debut album to critical acclaim and earned Grammy nominations for Best New Artist, Best Country Album, and Best Country Song ("Hold My Hand").  In 2016, she teamed with Jennifer Nettles on CMT’s Next Women of Country Tour, released Big Day in a Small Town, and earned two more Grammy nominations. Jillian Jacqueline spent a few years on the road with Kenny Rogers before she was a teenager. Her latest single, “Reasons,” inspired Billboard to praise “her ability to balance her blatant honesty with unshakeable optimism.” Carly Pearce scored her first Top Forty hit in 2016 with “Wasn’t That Drunk,” a collaboration with Josh Abbott Band. Her current single is “Every Little Thing,” from her forthcoming, busbee-produced album. Maggie Rose scored two Top Forty Billboard Country Airplay hits, “I Ain’t Your Mama” and “Better,” from her first release and her genre-bending follow-up EP, The Variety Show, Vol 1, garnered praise from NPR, Rolling Stone Country, and Wall Street Journal. British-born singer Lucie Silvas sold over one million copies of her debut album, Breathe In, and toured extensively throughout Europe before moving to Nashville. She wrote a majority of the songs on her latest release, Letters to Ghosts, as well as songs recorded by Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire.

This program takes place in the Museum's CMA Theater and will also be streamed live at countrymusichalloffame.org/streaming. The live stream is powered by NewTek TriCaster.

Following the program, the artists with participate in an autograph signing.
