Musician Spotlight: Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley

Sunday, December 17, 2017 - 01:30pm

Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley are a traditional country and bluegrass duo. Their 2015 debut, the Grammy nominated Before the Sun Goes Down, features Hensley’s baritone vocals and skillful guitar picking, in combination with Ickes’s legendary Dobro skills. Their second release, The Country Blues, further exemplifies the strength of their sound. The duo have been on tour recently with Tommy Emmanuel and David Grisman. Beyond his work with Hensley, Ickes has played with bluegrass band Blue Highway for over twenty years. He has recorded with Dierks Bentley, Merle Haggard, Alison Krauss, and Patty Loveless. Ickes has two Grammys and fifteen IBMA Dobro Player of the Year awards. Trey Hensley has played with Johnny and June Carter Cash, Charlie Daniels, the Oak Ridge Boys, Ricky Skaggs, and Steve Wariner.
