Loretta Lynn’s musical style can be characterized as traditional country music. No instrument epitomizes country music more than the steel guitar. Musician/educators Adam Ollendorff and Josh Kaler will provide a background of the steel guitar family as they explore the sounds of lap steel, pedal steel, and Dobro. Guests will be invited to try out some techniques following the presentation. Ollendorff has performed on steel guitar with Vince Gill, Loretta Lynn, and Kacey Musgraves. Kaler leads the band Hula Hi-Fi, which combines Hawaiian lap steel sounds with contemporary popular music.
This activity, presented in support of the exhibit Loretta Lynn: Blue Kentucky Girl, takes place in the Museum's Taylor Swift Education Center and is designed for guests ages 7 and up.
