He also wrote "Ace of Hearts" (Mark Wills); "Another Side of You" (Joe Nichols); "Groovy Little Summer Song" (James Otto); "I Can't Love You Back" (Easton Corbin); "I Got a Feelin'" (Billy Currington); and songs for Billy Ray Cyrus, Jamey Johnson, Craig Morgan, Julie Roberts, Travis Tritt, Don Williams, and others. Known for his success as a country songwriter, Schlitz proved just as effective at creating dramatic narratives when discussing his career as part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's quarterly Poets and Prophets series, which honors songwriters who have made a significant contribution to country music.

Film Screening: Hee Haw featuring Tammy Wynette and George Jones (1974)
Film Screening
A staple of syndicated television for more than twenty years, Hee Haw premiered on CBS in 1969 and quickly became one of the most popular shows on network television. Conceived as the country version of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, the show was originally broadcast as the summer replacement for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. The weekly program featured rural comedy led by co-hosts Roy Clark and Buck Owens and country music performances by cast members and special guests. This screening features appearances by Tammy Wynette and George Jones. Presented in support of the exhibit Tammy Wynette: First Lady of Country Music Presented by Great American Country Television Network. 40 minutes. Free. Family Program: Songwriting 101 with Jerry Vandiver and Tim Buppert
Family Program
Learn songwriting fundamentals, including the basics of song form, rhyme scheme and meter, and secrets behind the creative process. Veteran songwriters Jerry Vandiver and Tim Buppert will lead this workshop. Vandiver has taught songwriting classes and had songs recorded by Lonestar, Tim McGraw, and Phil Vassar. Buppert has written and recorded for Kevin Sharp, Yankee Grey, and Trisha Yearwood. For ages 5 to 11. No reservations required. Free.
