Family Program: Introduction to Thumbpick Guitar
Family Program
This hands-on workshop will teach the basics of thumbpick guitar, a style made famous by Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, and others. Led by Craig Dobbins, respected guitarist, writer, composer, teacher, and author of many books, articles, and recordings about fingerstyle guitar. Guitars provided. Ages 6-18. Free.

Community Outreach: Musical Petting Zoo at NashVitality Family Festival

Bang a drum, strum an autoharp, and pick a banjo! Our Musical Petting Zoo offers budding musicians a chance to try new and familiar instruments. Instructors will be on site to offer guidance. This program is part of the NashVitality Family Festival, a free day of activities promoting healthy living, offered in collaboration by the Mayor's Office of Children and Youth, Metro Parks, Metro Public Health Department, Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, Nashville Children's Alliance, Nashville Kids' Triathlon and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee.
