In a transformation worthy of Eliza Doolittle, Porter Wagoner- he of the wagon wheel rhinestone suits- officially "went disco" on this night in 1979. Appearing at Nashville's Exit/In nightclub, he performed dance mix renditions of old country standards while the colored lights went crazy. "Country is actually pretty close to disco or rock," he told a local reporter. "Hell, you can sing 'Y'All Come' to disco."
